In a bid to benefit students, researchers and teachers of more
than 7,000 colleges across the country, Human Resource Development
Minister Kapil Sibal on 04.05.2010 Tuesday launched the National
Library and Information Services Infrastructure for Scholarly
Content (N-LIST) project.
Over 2,000 e-journals and 51,000 digitised books would be
just a click away for students, researchers and faculty members
with the launch of this electronic library, N-LIST, here.
The users will also be able to download articles.
Faculty, staff, students and researches from colleges covered
under Section 12B of UGC Act are eligible to access e-resources
through the N-LIST project. Out of nearly 25,000 colleges,
over 7,000 institutions are covered under this section.
The students and faculty members can directly download the
material from the publisher's website after they are authenticated
through servers deployed in the INFLIBNET Centre.
Registration process
These colleges are required to register themselves on the
N-LIST website. Currently, 665 colleges are registered members.
Registered colleges are issued a log-in ID and passwords for
their authorised users including faculty, staff, researchers
and students.
Those colleges which are not covered under 2F/12B Act of
the UGC may also join as N-LIST associate members.
The project is jointly executed by the UGC-INFONET Digital
Library Consortium, INFLIBNET Centre and the INDEST-AICTE
Consortium, IIT Delhi.
