Innovative ways of gifting

IArt of Giftingt is amazing how much thought someone will put into picking out the perfect present, yet uses very little imagination on how to give it. In many ways, the presentation of a gift is just as important as the item itself. Imagine buying someone a gold ring and leaving it on the kitchen counter with a note that says, "Thought you might like this." Or contrast that with the gift of a ring hidden inside a rosebud that will "magically" appear as rose blossoms in sunlight.

The next time you are giving a gift, consider presenting it in a creative or meaningful way. Try these out for a change:

  • Tie a string all through the house, beginning at the location where the gift is hidden. You can also attach small gifts all along the string as a teaser for the big present at the end. Try this and see the smile come on your loved one's face!

  • Another way in which you could give presents is by having him/her find them. Write about seven or so clues, which lead from one written clue to the next, until the final clue leads to the hidden gift.

  • If you want to go all out on the "treasure hunt" theme, you can give a tape in the "Mission Impossible" style with instructions or clues on how to locate the missing gift.

  • So, there are dozens and dozens of ways in which you can transform the presentation of even an ordinary gift into a truly romantic or memorable occasion. Just a little bit of "thinking" can do the magic and you will realise how easy it is to charm a person!

  • How to buy antique dolls

  • Acquaint yourself with all the facets of dolls and doll making: porcelain, china, composition, cloth, vinyl, plastic and papier-mâché are terms you should know and understand.

  • Decide which dolls really interest you - what kind of doll? Which period? Which particular maker?

  • Familiarize yourself with how collectors value dolls. Prices vary based on area, originality and popularity, but certain things - condition, visibility of maker's mark - are pretty standard. There are many books and magazines, which can help you understand these criteria.

  • Consider the financial side of collecting. Doll collecting is an established hobby - for some it's a vocation. You'll find hobby groups, national associations and magazines devoted to the subject. 5. Doll prices can be pretty high. So carefully make your choice keeping future value in mind.
