Delhi Flying Club

How many of us wish to fly freely like a bird? If only God had given us wings.....

Students of the Delhi Flying ClubSoaring high in the sky is an exhilarating experience and it is no longer a distant dream for people. So if one aspires for heights, one need not go to foreign institutions to get flying degrees. A very good flying institute exists in Delhi which imparts lessons in flying. The institute is Delhi Flying Club, established in 1928. Located near the Safdarjung flyover it is spread in acres of sprawling land. From the flyover one can have a bird's eye view of the flying area (also known as Safdarjung airport).

Pravish, a student of Delhi Flying Club, has been training for the Commercial Pilot License (CPL) since two years and he just loves flying. He says, "I have done solo flying and cross country. The experience is just great!" Manish Marwar, who has just joined the Club to fulfill his childhood ambition, feels excited about the whole thing. He is looking forward to the day he becomes a pilot.

Rajiv Gandhi, one of the pilots trained at the Delhi Flying ClubThe Delhi Flying Club has accomplished the dreams of many pilots and churned out the best pilots in the country. Late Shri Rajiv Gandhi and Late Shri Sanjay Gandhi learnt their flying here. Captain Sharma is also from this institute. It has churned out some of the best pilots for the Indian Airlines.

The Club gives lessons in flying for commercial pilots. It is a full-fledged program after which the student is suitable to be a pilot. For the professional flying course the student should have done his 12th grade with physics and maths as his/her core subjects. After completing the training from the institute the students can apply for jobs as a pilot.

Sharad Yadav, Aviation Minister, at the Aerosports Show organised by the Delhi Flying ClubThere is also a course for those who do not belong to the science background. Though they cannot be professional pilots but they can fly for hobby. After completing the course one can come here and fly planes by paying a fee. Besides the training program one can have joy rides too.

Anyone can become a member of the Delhi Flying Club. Training is given in Cessna planes. The students first fly with their instructors then fly solo. Besides the Delhi region the students also get to fly cross-country like Chandigarh and many other places.

At the club there is also a course conducted for aspiring air hostesses. This course is conducted by Royal Airlines.

The Club also has a social aspect which is not attached to the flying club. This has around 600 members and the club holds social activities from time to time.
