Padmini Kolhapure
School of Acting
In
a successful career spanning 15 years, Padmini Kolhapure
has scaled the heights of stardom and has won the coveted
"Filmfare Award" thrice. Right now
Padmini is busy churning out talented students, year
after year, from her acting school.
The Padmini Kolhapure School of Acting was set up
with an intention to provide a ladder to many who aspire
to get into Hindi cinema and serials. The faculty consists
of top experts, forming a perfect blend between theatre
and cinema. Students get to learn first hand from professional
tutors under the able guidance of Padmini, and other
big names from Bollywood. Courses include Acting, which
is available, 3 times a week and special classes for
students who want to join the weekend batches. Modelling
and grooming for upcoming ramp, Television and Print
models. Film dancing for budding choreographers, dance
enthusiasts and for students who want to take it up
professionally.
Personality
Development, to basically inculcate a few of those
social habits which we tend to ignore like table manners,
social etiquette. An interesting course is the workshop
started for school kids. Though Saturday Club
is conducted all round the year, the school, during
winter and summer vacations comes up with theatre and
dance workshops. The training during these vacations
is rigorous and intensive. The growing demand for child
artists in films, serials and as models in commercial
advertisements can be the main reason for this. Recently
the school held a successful summer camp for children
for 15 days where skills were imparted in acting, dancing,
speech and diction by Mr. Padam Gurung and Mr. Rishi
Kulshereshtha. As Mrs. Richa Wahi, Managing Director
of the school puts it, "The children enthralled
with their zest and enthusiastic performance, reflecting
their hard work. We try and take personal care of each
and every student and it was heartening to see their
success, which won the hearts of their parents."
The school has staged various theatre productions like
'Don John', 'Control Kejeeyna'; a musical called
'Computer Fever' and recently 'Dil Badal Ke
Dekho', a romantic comedy. The school is again starting
a summer workshop with kids.
The
school is one of its kind in North India and students
come from as far as UP, Haryana, Rajasthan and even
the North East. Film personalities like David Dhawan,
Vashu Bhagnani, Boney Kapoor, Tutu Sharma, Shakti Kapoor,
Poonam Dhillon, Jaya Prada and many others have visited
the school and shared their experiences with the students.
According to famous actress, Shabana Azmi, "Having
personally benefited from training at the Film and Television
institute, I strongly advocate the need for professional
training for all aspiring actors, which this institute
would provide". Students are sent to Mumbai
after the completion of the course to different film
and serial makers, who help them to get roles both in
cinema and TV and many other assignments. Also a variety
of entertainment shows are held during the course, which
help students with talent to exhibit their potential.
