Yummy
chowmien
He
tosses the noodles in the air taking care that not even
a single noodle falls down. The other chap is busy cutting
the vegetables. You guessed it right they are preparing
the most savoured dish in the the world. It is chowmien!
Located just at the entrance of the Defence Colony
market is the conspicious little red cubicle. This
little but famous Chinese outlet has been over here
for a very long time. Initially started in a van now
it has acquired a permanent brick structure. Though
with no seating faciltiy, the joint is quite popular.
People still some from far off places to eat the mouth
watering chowmien. They serve other Chinese food but
their speciality is the chowmein.
As
one of the cook says," Accha hota hai tabhi
log aate hai. Aur phir baithne ka kya kare. Par abhi
tak to problem nahin hua hai."( it must be good
that is why people come here. And I can't do anything
about the seating arrangement. But till now there has
been no problem). Though they have been given a
solid brick construction by the MCD, they still retain
their name of "Van walla".
Traffic jam and persistent honkings are a common sight
here in the evenings. Ramit who is going back
home from his office has taken a halt here to pick up
some chowmien."I, come here often on my way
to the house. I like the chowmien of this place. I like
to sit and eat here whenever I have time," he says.
Many people come here from from off places to enjoy
the hustle-bustle atmosphere. One such person is Sachedeva,
who along with his family is enjoying the soup. "
I like the cool and casual atmosphere of this place.
Every time I don't like to go to a restaurant. I like
to stand by the road and munch my chowmien along with
my family," he remarks cheerfully.
F or
some it is a good point to come and spend the evenings
with friends. Noor along with a couple of friends
comes here quite often at night and enjoys the food
sitting on the bonnet of a car. "We all sit
here till night and gossip," he says. And yet
for those who do not want to eat on the road, there
is a small park behind the joint. One can sit and enjoy
the food and have a sort of picnic.
This joint is open till late hours in the night.
Many people come here have a nice meal and sit and
gossip. Despite its roadside location you can sit on
the bonnet of your car and enjoy a hearty meal.
The service is fast compared to any fastfood restaurant.
The food is brought to you in a jiffy. The boys take
care of the customers and will not give you a chance
to complain.
So have bindaas fun and hit the road!
