The conspicious little red cubicle at the entrance of the Defence Colony marketHe tosses the noodles in the air taking care that not even a single noodle falls down. The other chap is busy cutting the vegetables. You guessed it right they are preparing the most savoured dish in the the world. It is chowmien!

Located just at the entrance of the Defence Colony market is the conspicious little red cubicle. This little but famous Chinese outlet has been over here for a very long time. Initially started in a van now it has acquired a permanent brick structure. Though with no seating faciltiy, the joint is quite popular. People still some from far off places to eat the mouth watering chowmien. They serve other Chinese food but their speciality is the chowmein.

The cook tossing the yummy chowmienAs one of the cook says," Accha hota hai tabhi log aate hai. Aur phir baithne ka kya kare. Par abhi tak to problem nahin hua hai."( it must be good that is why people come here. And I can't do anything about the seating arrangement. But till now there has been no problem). Though they have been given a solid brick construction by the MCD, they still retain their name of "Van walla".

Traffic jam and persistent honkings are a common sight here in the evenings. Ramit who is going back home from his office has taken a halt here to pick up some chowmien."I, come here often on my way to the house. I like the chowmien of this place. I like to sit and eat here whenever I have time," he says. Many people come here from from off places to enjoy the hustle-bustle atmosphere. One such person is Sachedeva, who along with his family is enjoying the soup. " I like the cool and casual atmosphere of this place. Every time I don't like to go to a restaurant. I like to stand by the road and munch my chowmien along with my family," he remarks cheerfully.

FA customer at the chowmien joint or some it is a good point to come and spend the evenings with friends. Noor along with a couple of friends comes here quite often at night and enjoys the food sitting on the bonnet of a car. "We all sit here till night and gossip," he says. And yet for those who do not want to eat on the road, there is a small park behind the joint. One can sit and enjoy the food and have a sort of picnic.

This joint is open till late hours in the night. Many people come here have a nice meal and sit and gossip. Despite its roadside location you can sit on the bonnet of your car and enjoy a hearty meal.

The service is fast compared to any fastfood restaurant. The food is brought to you in a jiffy. The boys take care of the customers and will not give you a chance to complain.

So have bindaas fun and hit the road!
