Skin Care
Summer
in Delhi spells doom for the skin. The poor skin has
to bear the grunt of extreme rising temperature, the
harsh sun, and the dust. Therefore it is important to
take good care of the skin.
During summer many people face skin problems. Hence
it is important to identify the skin type and take care
accordingly, otherwise there can be drastic consequences.
The biggest enemy of skin in summer are the harmful
rays from the sun. Exposure to the UVA and UVB rays
can cause immense damage to skin like sun burn, dehydration,
and pigmentation, depending on the extent of the
exposure. Moreover, swimmers face a fair chance of skin
damage in the sun because chlorine and sun act as a
catalyst. Therefore it is important to use sun screens
which act as shields against the harmful ultra-violet
rays.
With so many sun screen lotions flooding the market
it is very important to choose the right one. An effective
sun screen should have SPF (Sun Protection Factor)
between SPF15 and SPF30. For maximum effectiveness
the sun screen should be applied on a clean face and
20 minutes before exposure to sun. If one sweats too
much or one wants to venture into water then one must
go for water resistant sun screens.
Well,
you would be surprised to know that even a minute exposure
to the sun can be harmful to your skin. Even a five
minute stand in the sun can do unthinkable damage to
the skin.
Another common problem faced during summer is tanning.
To prevent tan, some home remedies do a great
work. Mix juice of cabbage with milk powder and apply
it as a pack. Also rubbing a half-cut potato on the
face is good and it actually acts as a bleach.
Summer is a bad time for oily skin as they are more
susceptible to acne and pimples. One must get a good
thorough cleansing by an expert or a beauty therapist.
In summer nothing cools like water. A minimum of 8
to 10 glasses of water should be taken daily. It not
only hydrates the body but also removes harmful toxins
and aids digestion. The water also moisturizes the skin
and gives it a healthy glow. Also one must bathe regularly
in summers to keep the skin clean.
Who does not wish to have a good skin. For that a balanced
diet is a must. To keep the body cool from inside one
can choose from the variety of fruits and vegetables
available in the summer season such as melons, pumpkins
and bottle gourd. One must include more of salads and
fruits in the diet that will keep the skin flushed of
toxins.
To keep the skin ever glowing and free from any allergy
it is important to follow a daily skin care regime.
Cleansing the skin at night with a good cleansing milk
is essential to rid the skin of all the dust. The milk
should be massaged on the face and wiped off with a
wet towel. This will clean the skin gently. Application
of cucumber juice on the skin also helps. A water based
moisturiser can also be applied to prevent the skin
from drying at night.
For that blemish free and idiomatic skin it is essential
to have a professional cleansing of the skin once a
month, especially in summers.
