The candle company is the brainchild of 25 year old Yogita Chachra, who felt a void in the designer candle category. This Wharton business school alumnus saw a lucrative business opportunity, as there are only a handful of people making customized and stylish candles for the market.

According to Yogita, "In India people burn candles only when there is no electricity, it was a challenge to break in the market and the prevailing mind set. People have had a fixed mindset about candles, which is now changing," she emphatically says. She never wanted to enter the domestic market but as chance would have it she is today one of the major suppliers to Good Earth, Ebony, Tarini, Archies, Ishvatham and also Aavishkar at Calcutta. She is exporting her stuff to countries across the globe to outlets in USA, Italy, England, Netherlands and many other countries in Europe.

"People abroad burn candles almost everyday, it's a concept well accepted at dinner tables and on different occasions. I am planning to open a retail outlet soon, but then that will house not only candles but incense sticks, aroma therapy oils and soaps as well which I am soon planning to diversify into. Price depends upon the size of the candle and it starts from Rs 15 and can go into thousands."

Trends are followed in designing candles, like Greek carvings, nature, furnishings, even swarovski motifs and leopard skin candles in different textures, colours, sizes and styles. A lot of work is done on each candle without compromising on its quality. Different styles are designed keeping the Indian market in mind, which includes using bright colours like gold, bright yellow, red, orange and purple. But for the international market pastels and more subtle colours are preferred. They also make metal pillar holders in different shapes and sizes to hold the candles or fill the holders with wax besides designing beautiful baskets often used to carry gifts.
