Imagine
an exhibition complex spread over an area of 149
acres right in the hub of the city. Interesting
right? Well, Pragati Maidan is India's best exhibition
complex and boasts of the major exhibitions like Autoexpo,
ITIndia.
The Maidan has 54,685 square metres of covered space
in 15 halls, besides 10,000 square metres of
open display area for trade related exhibitions. It
is managed by the ITPO (India Trade Promotion Organisation).
The credit to the design of Pragati Maidan goes to
Raj Rewal, Charles Correa, J A Stein and Satish Grover,
all famous architects. The covered space consists of
exhibition halls and conference rooms. And unlike most
exhibition complexes, they are adequately backed by
comprehensive security and public address system. A
free shuttle service works from gates 1, 2 and 3.
There
are some really interesting buildings within the complex
such as the National Science Centre, the Hall of
Nations and the Crafts Museum. There are constant
activities in the Maidan that cater to all sections
of the society.
