the business of designing and executing office interiors
since 1987. The Proprietor of Dimensions,
Mr Hari Achanta, spoke to our team about the
city's Interior Designing scenario and trends.
What is the speciality of 'Dimensions'?
" Now, there is a strong necessity to network and wire
the office completely. It is a very important factor
and should be taken into account. It is an issue of
a different kind of arrangement and we all here at Dimensions
work to achieve this."
About their clients and their sourcing…
"We have clients like Prime Arc India, Iormyx,
Blue Chip, I- Code, Dde-Org to name a few. We
don't actually need to source them as we are 13
years old in this business, with no branch offices
anywhere else. We get clients through word of
mouth and have been doing really very well."
Present trends in the office interior industry
….
"The planning of the seating arrangements have changed
fr om cubicle
to a more open office environment, where
more interaction between the employees can take place."
What aspects of designing is kept in mind while
designing an office?
" Layout plan is one of the most important
aspects to be kept in mind while designing. It is the
fundamental basis of interior designing. A designer
must felicitate a client's requirements, which vary
from client to client. The second thing to remember
is the colour scheme, because the ambience
of an office can change and be transformed with the
proper use of colour schemes. And lastly, any designing
should felicitate use of technology,
connectivity in terms of cabling. We always keep our
client's image and business background in mind."
Criterion of designing an office and pricing …
" We usually give a questionnaire
to all our clients which determines
what a client's actual requirements are. This makes
our work much easier. We take almost 6 weeks
to complete one project depending on the size of the
place. One designing could cost anywhere between Rs
300/ sq foot- 1500/sq foot. We explain in detail
the drawings of the layout, cost estimates and our terms
and conditions to the client."
How does 'Dimension' fuse
economy with elegance?
" We do get a lot of customers with smaller budgets
and it is best to ask them to spend a little more on
the reception compared to the whole
office. Many times, flooring which does not
cost more but looks very elegant can be used. Even the
colour combinations can make or mar the
elegant look of a place. It is not always necessary
that elegant look can be achieved only by spending lots
of money! We try to get our clients materials which
are low budget but still look elegant."
Tips for a layman to choose a good office interior
designer…
" Always go to a good and reliable
interior designer. Ta ke a lot of
references from different people and visit their
offices. Never try to do the work on your own, because
in spite of spending money one may not be able to get
the thing right!"
