Water Banks
Island Resort
An
unspoiled, unhurried island fantasy in the vicinity
of Delhi. That is Waterbanks for you. Situated
in the middle of the Damdama Lake, it is about
42 kilometers from Delhi. The island is only reachable
by the water route and there are specially designed
rowing boats to take you safely. This has been done
to ensure the ecological balance of the beautiful resort.
With the view of the Damdama lake on three sides, juxtaposed
with the Aravalli mountain range on the fourth,
Waterbanks is a happening place. Families come here
on a short trip from the capital city. You can hear
the jackals call in the dead of the night or spot the
nilgais and the rarest of the birds during the migration
season in this picturesque.
The
concept of the resort has been essentially to make it
absolutely eco-friendly. The material used to build
the cottage has been procured locally. Outside the huts
one can get the hint of the urge to be a part of the
eco-friendly tourist. The notices outside the huts clearly
request the do's and dont's for the visitors and the
tourists to help maintain the charm of the place.
There is a conference cum dance area for over
100 people and an open air garden umbrella restaurant.
For a real time experience at the place you could go
in for a barbecue or cocktail dinner with a bonfire.
Other facilities include golf putts, table tennis,
volley ball, rock climbing, archery and other facilities.
You could look around nature from the Machaans
and then go in for the ample treasure hunt walks in
the vicinity. Forget not to swing in the rope Burma
Bridge on the way. And when you're back to the cottages,
there are the hammocks available in the resort.
It
is here that you could have the joint pleasure of ballooning
and have the bird's eye view of the beautiful locale
as well. And if the view from the heights is not enough,
you can very well take a splash! As per the availability,
you can even bungee jump. Very soon there shall be a
permanent tower for this sport in the resort.
At Waterbanks there are avenues for organizing HRD
Training programmes also. Now that boardroom brainstorming
is passe, the outdoors are the best testing grounds
for leadership skills, initiative and team building.
The obstacles (or better sounded and perceived as Stepping
Stones) here have been built for this purpose.
There are different packages you can yourself choose.
The room charges are about Rs.1500/- (exclusive of the
meals).
Wishing you a comfortable stay here, and happy ballooning,
and happy boating, and fishing and ... bungee jumping.
Does it get better than that?
