 Dance Schools

The Bhartiya Sangeet Sadan

The school is located in the locality of East of Kailash. Founded by Shri V.D.Sharma in 1943, it aims to promote various dance forms of India especially the Kathak.

The school strives to develop new forms of expression. As the Kathak is intimately related to Hindustani Music, the school is also working in the field of vocal and instrumental music etc.

The school strives at:
Providing instruction & guiding research in music & dance
Organising public performances of leading artistes
Encouraging creative artistes by sponsoring their programmes
Organising theatrical performances, seminars, symposia, demonstration, lectures on music and dance and publishing journals, monographs and books on art.

The school since its inception has been providing instruction in Indian classical dance and music under the guidance of expert and talented gurus. They also conduct special classes & workshops for overseas students.

The school has presented renowned dancers and musicians in various concerts. It has even made special arrangements to cater to overseas students who are eager to learn Kathak.

Ganesa Vidyalaya

Saroja Vaidyanathan, a renowned classical Bharatanatyam dancer, established Ganesha Natyalaya in 1974.

Beginning with a handful of students, the Natyalaya soon grew rapidly in strength and eminence and is reckoned as a premier institution in India. It is due to Guru Saroja's able tutelage that the students of the school receive sound grounding in the basics of theory and practice of Bharatanatyam along with Carnatic music thereby enabling them to appreciate and understand the harmony of music and dance.

The Hon'ble Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma, then Vice President of India, inaugurated the school in April 1988. The school organises seminars and workshops on topics of interest to performing artistes and for purchase of musical instruments and for organizing public performances.

The Natyalaya has its own mini-auditorium that has requisite audio-visual equipment including stage lights and sound system. The Government also sanctions grants to the Natyalaya for production of dance-dramas, ballets etc.
