Taj
Mahal, an epitome of tribute to love, has inspired
many artists over the ages. Sharanu has made
beautiful carvings which are reminiscent to the Mughal
era. These carvings give the appearance of a marble
stone. The work draws inspiration from the pillars
of Taj Mahal. Most of his work is vertical
and pillar-based. Through his work he has tried to
bring out the mesmerizing beauty of the Taj and the
grace it lends to the structure.
He has used chalky board and acrylic to give the
desired effect. With white as the background in the
pillar he has divided them into various blocks. The
arches and the curves are closely drawn from the Taj.
Somewhere there is a little tinge of colour on the
side which breaks the monotony of the white. But he
has taken care not to let the colour overshadow the
purity of white. As Taj Mahal is a symbolic of purity,
Sharanu has tried to depict purity and harmony.
Sharanu's works owe reference to the world's most
majestic construction, a glorious culmination of the
artistic fusion of Indian architecture and Mughal
ornamentation. It is a pure joy of creation and dedication
that Sharanu has tried to emulate the complexities
of space and scale of this great monument in his constructions.
He has taken care of of the fine carvings and designs
which are very simple and yet graceful. One thing to
be observed is that there are no intricate and complex
designs but they symbolize the architectural rich
era. His work is a tribute to the mastercraftsmen
of the Mughal era.
