The
biggest and most popular market in the western part
of Delhi. The market has shops running on both sides
of the road. Equipped to take care of all needs,
it has a large number of shops that sell everything
from apparels, jewellery, electronics, and sports
goods to books and stationery. Rajouri Garden
has become one of the major places to shop in Delhi.
A recent footfall survey by International Property
Consultants, Chesterton Meghraj, shows that
Rajouri Garden is a retail market that is waiting
to happen. It is a shopping place with a difference.
Even though the Rajouri Market is not as big as
Karol Bagh and South Extension, but
it has established itself down the years. The people
visiting Rajouri Garden market
are real shoppers; this market caters mainly to
the college crowd because of its eating joints and
cinema. Vishal Cinema is one of the major
cinema halls in Delhi.
The
Rajouri Garden Market consists of about 500 shops,
all of which are the members of the Rajouri Garden
Main Market Traders Association. Rajouri Garden
is the only market to have developed so much in
a residential area. Though there is a lot of industrial
space, about 95 percent of the residential buildings
have been converted into commercial complexes. The
government also gets a good amount of tax collection
from this area as the shopkeepers are doing brisk
business.
The market is a haven for women with many shops
exclusively catering to them. Big stores like Bombay
Selections, Shakuntalam, Katyal Traders, Chinchilla,
Appeal, Brightways exclusively cater to women
and children. The market is popular for ladies garments;
it is also well known for its exotic crystals and
precious stones.
There
are famous eating joints for people to relax and
enjoy. Crazy Cow, Wimpy's, Soni Bakery, Atul
Chaat Bhandar and Baskin Robbins. It
is one of the good quality and high cost markets.
Major retail chains like Ebony and Life
Spring have opened their stores in this market.
Shops like Brandz, Archies Gallery, Ringles the
gift gallery, Delco shoes, Top Shop, Bizarre
attract a lot of young crowd.
Anita Bhagat is a regular at the Rajouri Garden
market. She says, "This place is one of
my favourite place to shop as it is very close to
my house."
The market has a large variety in cloth and readymade
garments. There are many major brands like Woodland,
Allen Solly, Cairo, and Lotus Bawa.
The market is patronized both by the classes as
well as the masses residing in this part of the
city. The best brands and widest variety possible,
all packaged in attractive display, draws shoppers
from all over Delhi.
