Hotel
Siddharth, a Jaypee Group Hotel has stolen
a march over other hotels in offering an exclusive
club for women of substance. Moving away from the
mundane kitty circuit, SHYLA- formed exclusively
for women by women, offers a wide range of activities
and an invaluable opportunity to interact with the
objective of self-enrichment. This club, started
in October 1998, is the brainchild of Mrs. Rita
Dixit, Director (Operations) Jaypee Hotels Limited.
Elucidating about the club, Mrs. Dixit states,
"Shyla Club represents the realization of a
desire to form a common platform for the like-minded
women to address their needs and exercise their
freedom of thought." Not only does SHYLA offer
ample scope for productive utilization of available
time it also incorporates special 'theme evenings'
for ladies to take a welcome break from repetitive
household chores.
All activities of the club are elaborately planned
which includes offering an event every fortnight
throughout the year. These events include designer
wear fashion shows, talks/demonstration by experts
on interior designing, celebrity talk shows, vaastu
shastra, premier movie shows, tips on personal grooming,
activities relating to various social causes, swimming
lessons etc. In other words not only the entertainment
aspect but also activities leading to self-enrichment
are carefully selected.
Shyla
was born out of innumerable privileged interactions
that the club coordinators had with the esteemed
lady guests. There was a unanimous need for an exclusive
ladies club that understood ladies like no mixed
club ever could. The events, facilities, programmes,
interactions, games, cuisines, getaways, etc. have
been worked out with thoughtful meticulousness,
as the Jaypee Group of Industries is backing this
venture.
According to Mrs. Nandini Shukla, the club
coordinator, "This is an in-house club started
initially with 8 ladies, but now the membership
has crossed 300. We have stopped taking in more
members due to lack of space. But we now have a
very good group of ladies from big business houses
of Karol Bagh and Chandni Chowk area, wives of corporates,
doctors, lawyers, teachers and entrepreneurs. The
age group of our members is from 20- 65. We conduct
events twice a month so basically 24 events in a
year. We have celebrity members like famous Kathak
Dancer Mrs. Uma Sharma, Singer Penaz Masani and
Delhi CM Mrs. Sheila Dixit."
Membership to the club is for Rs 800 every month,
which includes attractive benefits like free annual
subscription of Femina, free two nights/ three days
stay at Jaypee Residency Manor or Jaypee
Palace Agra, a complimentary Mediclaim accident
policy worth Rs 50,000, discount from leading
shops and departmental stores of Delhi, also gifts
on birthday and anniversaries of the members and
a gift hamper on enrolling.
Shyla
club has received a tremendous response from West
Delhi and now is also operating from South Delhi.
Mrs. Shukla further adds, "This club is for
housewives. For them it's an outing cum learning
experience where they interact, enjoy, meet and
make new friends. All our members really enjoy our
events and programmes. We have programmes on festivals
like on Basant Panchami, a rain dance, film show,
a mulaqat with Mrs. Margaret Alva, an event with
Penaz Masani, a workshop with Mrs. Blossom Kocchar
on aromatherapy and makeup, fashion shows etc. This
is also one of the very happening clubs in Delhi
and according to the Hindustan Times rating Shyla
Club is the only club in Delhi which offers maximum
benefit to members."
Shyla Club is one of the most active women's clubs
in Delhi and has actively undertaken several programmes
addressing various women's issues.
