Founded by John D and Catherine T MacArthur,
MacArthur Foundation is a private, independent grant
making institute to help groups and individuals working
towards better living conditions for the people of both
developed and developing nations. The foundation makes
grants through two integrated programmes - Human
and Community Development, and Global Security
and Sustainability. The former focuses on national
(USA) policy work and research. The latter focuses on
international peace and security, ecosystem conservation,
population and other cross cutting themes.
