 Gandhi Smriti Museum

The last days of Mahatma Gandhi were spent at the Birla House. After his death the Birla House was converted into the Gandhi Smriti Museum. The Museum records the life of Gandhi especially his last moments. In the garden, are the last footsteps of the Mahatma, marked in red sandstone. A simple sandstone pillar marks the spot where the Mahatma breathed his last.

The museum commemorates the philosophy of the Mahatma in its ambience and setting. The major events in Gandhi's life have been illustrated by using a series of terracotta dolls. The rooms that he used to live in during his sporadic visits to the city have been kept intact. The museum also has the jeep that carried Gandhi's body to Raj Ghat.
