The Department of Commerce is responsible for the
country's external trade and all matters connected
with it, such as commercial relations with other countries,
state trading, export promotional measures and the
development and regulation of certain export oriented
industries and commodities. The Department of Commerce
formulates policies in the sphere of foreign trade,
in particular, the import and export policy of the
country. The Department head is the Secretary, Ministry
of Commerce and he/she is assisted in the discharge
of duties by Additional Secretaries and a number of
other senior officers functioning as Divisional Heads.
The Department of Commerce consists of eight principal
functional Divisions i.e., Administrative and General
Division, Finance Division, Economic Division, Trade
Policy Divisions, Foreign Trade Territorial Division,
Export Products Division, Export Industries Division
and Export Services Division.

Bureau of Indian Standards (National Standards Body
of India) is a statutory organization established under
the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 1986. The Bureau
is a body corporate and comprises members representing
industries, consumer organizations, scientific and research
institutes, professional bodies, technical institutions,
Central Ministries, State Governments and Members of
Parliament. The Minister in charge of the Union Ministry
of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution is the President
of the Bureau and the Minister of State as it's Vice-President.
The Executive Committee of the Bureau is responsible
for its day-to-day functioning and the Director General
is its ex-officio Chairman. The Bureau is responsible
for facilitating harmonious development of standards,
product certification, quality system certification
and Environmental Management Systems Certification.

Commenced functioning in April 1970, as a focal and
catalyst organization. Established in 1970, BICP functions
like an independent organization. It comprises a Chairman,
who is also Secretary to Government of India, and three
whole-time Members belonging to different disciplines
viz. Finance, Technical and Economic. The original aim
of the bureau was to focus on industrial sectors but
now its scope has got enlarged to include, interalia,
diversified areas like infrastructure, utilities & service
sectors and non-market organizations.

Khadi & Village Industries Board |

The Khadi & Village Industries board implements two
schemes namely KVIC Schemes and Block Loan Scheme under
which the Board provides financial assistance to industries.
It provides financial assistance to the entrepreneurs,
artisans and cooperative societies to start units to
manufacture khadi & village industries products.

DSIDC has been set up the Delhi govt. to assist, finance
and promote the interest of small scale industries in
Delhi. The Corporation developed Narela Industrial Complex
and also constructed 24 multi-purpose community centres
under the Mini Master plan for development in rural
Delhi. |

DFC caters to long term credit needs of the small and
medium scale industries of Delhi and Chandigarh. Assistance
can be availed for projects having fixed assets such
as land, building, plant and machinery for working capital.
The maximum limit for loan in case of companies is Rs.240
lacs while for others it is Rs.90 lacs. The corporation
has also devised suitable schemes to promote the target
groups such as women, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled
Tribes, physically handicapped and ex-servicemen.
