As the name itself
suggests, the Ministry of Finance is solely concerned
with finance and all fields that relate to finance (which
can be everything especially with liberalization of
the Indian economy). So the ministry is responsible
for the administration of the finances of the Central
Government. In effect, it looks into all economic
and financial matters affecting the country. It
also mobilizes resources for development. It regulates
the expenditure of the Central Government and the transfer
of resources of States.
The ministry has three departments under it.
1. Department of Economic Affairs
2. Department of Expenditure
3. Department of Revenue

In an age
when no individual or country is safe, defence is the
saving answer! So that's where comes the Ministry of
Defence. It is responsible to safeguard the country.
The ministry goes about this by obtaining directions
from the Government on all defence and security related
matters. It then communicates this to the Services Headquarters,
Inter-Services Organisations, Production Establishments,
and Research and Development Organisations, for implementation.
The head of the Ministry is the Raksha Mantri or the
Defence Minister. However the Supreme Command of the
Armed Forces rests with the President.
The Ministry has three departments under it.
1. Department of Defence (DOD)
2. Department of Defence Production & Supplies (DDP&S)
3. Department of Defence Research & Development (DDR&D)
4. Finance Division
The Ministry has three Service Headquarters.
1. The Army Headquarters
2. The Naval Headquarters
3. The Air Headquarters
The above Headquarters are assisted by their Principal
Staff Officers (PSO). The Inter-Service Organisations
are responsible for carrying out tasks such as medical
care, public relations and personnel management of civilians
in the Defence Headquarters.

| The age is
of information influx and here is where the Ministry
of Information and Broadcasting plays an important role.
The key areas of it functioning are the radio, television,
films, the press, publications, advertising and traditional
mode of dance and drama, and other mass medias. Dissemination
of information and entertainment to the masses, and
rules and regulations that apply to the mass
media is the realm of this ministry. It also handles
the International dialogue concerning mass communication,
and mediates on behalf of the Government. |
